This past weekend in the spirit of Mexico’s Children’s Day (April 30th), U.S. Customs and Border Protection opened the metal gate at San Diego’s Border Field State Park to allow several children hug family members that have been deported. The event is an excellent opportunity to bring attention to our nation’s broken immigration system and how it is affecting families across the country. This is only the second time since the erection of the border fence in the mid-90s the gate has been opened to allow families to embrace.
