Dump Trump!!
Because I am an Independent Voter and do not play party politics, I tend to not to write political commentary on this blog. However, as a well-versed immigration practitioner that has been on both sides of the battlefield (government attorney and private bar attorney), I am compelled to vocalize my dissent.
A few people were thrilled when Donald Trump threw his hat in the GOP presidential race, not because he is remotely qualified or has any shot of winning, but because he was sure to add a bit of entertainment to the normally boring and stale political campaigning. However on Tuesday, Trump started speaking and immediately the entertainment became downright offensive and worse yet, UN AMERICAN.
“When Mexico sends its people,” Trump said during his presidential announcement, “they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting.”
Such inflammatory comments demonstrate the sheer stupidity of Donald Trump. Trump remarks lump all Mexican Immigrants as being criminals and that they have been systematically ordered or “sent” by some central Conspiracy or Dictator in Mexico to invade the United States and infect our country like a virus. Its as if Trump has watched the movie Scarface too many times in which Tony Montana is questioned by Immigration Officials who say “Castro is sh-ting all over us” in reference to Communist Era Cuba’s release of prisoners who came to the US in 1980.
Mexico isn’t “sending” anyone to the United States. The United States is a country of immigrants that have come to our country from Mexico as they have come from every other country in the world for hundreds of years. Including Mr. Trump’s own ancestors. People for generations from all countries come to the United States looking for a better life. That’s the basic foundation of America. North County Immigration has helped countless Doctors, lawyers, teachers, service professionals, Healthcare workers, military veterans, skilled laborers and students who come from Mexico and add tremendous value to our Economy and Society as a whole. The fact that Trump just decided to lump an entire huge ethnic group of people into a few Lazy off-base sentences shows just how ignorant the man really is. Mr. Trump – “You’re Fired!”
